4 Big Things You Need To Know About Avengers: Infinity War

The Infinity Stones Will Be Together
The Infinity Stones Will Be Together
So far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe we’ve seen at least three Infinity Stones: the Tesseract (featured in ThorCaptain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers), the Aether (seen in Thor: The Dark World) and the Power Orb (from Guardians of the Galaxy). The remaining three Stones will likely be introduced in the movies leading up to The Avengers: Infinity War, at which point Thanos will collect all six and insert them into the Infinity Gauntlet, giving him limitless power. We’ve seen that each individual stone is powerful on their own, but with all of them together, the Marvel heroes will face their greatest challenge yet. It isn’t just the Earth at stake when Thanos joins these ancient artifacts; it’s all of existence!

This Will Be Based on The Infinity Gauntlet Storyline
This Will Be Based on The Infinity Gauntlet Storyline
Thanos has spent decades on the page attempting to find all seven Infinity Gems (as they’re known in the comics), and in the 1991 story The Infinity Gauntlet, he finally succeeded. Among his demonstrations of power included erasing half of all life in the universe, all to please Death (yes, he is in love with the physical embodiment of Death). The only way the Marvel heroes were able to defeat him was because he took off the Gauntlet at one point. Obviously the Avengers: Infinity War movies won’t be direct adaptations of the original story, but if you want a hint at what we might see on the big screen, look for The Infinity Gauntlet at your local comic book store. Either way, brute force won’t be enough to defeat Thanos once he’s wearing the Gauntlet. The heroes of the MCU will need to think outside the box to stop him... provided they’re still alive.

There Will Probably Be Other Marvel Protagonists In It
The movies are called Avengers: Infinity War, so we can expect that the main characters will be the main Avengers roster - whether it’s the characters we’re familiar with now or a new team. That being said, Thanos is a big enough adversary that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will need all the help they can get, which is why other allies will join the fight, whether it’s cosmic heroes like the Guardians of the Galaxy, newer heroes likeBlack Panther and Captain Marvel, or even former Avengers who are coming back for one last round. The Infinity Gauntlet story in the comics saw Thanos taking on all of the Marvel heroes, so it would be somewhat of a letdown if we only had a team of 5-10 superheroes fighting for all of existence. Bring as many people as you can into this war!

This Will Be The Culmination of Everything Since 2008
This Will Be The Culmination of Everything Since 2008
As Kevin Feige said during today’s presentation, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been leading up to The Avengers: Infinity War ever since Iron Man was released in 2008. Marvel has plans for more movies leading into next decade, so the franchises won’t end or be rebooted after 2019, but we can perhaps think of thus as the ending of one book and the beginning of another. When Avengers: Infinity War Part II is released, an 11 year story will finally finish off, presumably leading into a new story for the MCU. That previous history will still be intact and drawn upon, but it will be fascinating to see how Marvel moves on from it, provided with an endless number of opportunities to explore new characters, new storylines and new environments.

Thor Will Definitely Be In 3 Upcoming Marvel Movies

Thor Will Definitely Be In 3 Upcoming Marvel Movies

Marvel has built an expansive Cinematic Universe where characters show up across multiple films. When you sign on for a Marvel movie, you generally sign on for manyMarvel movies, which is how they’ve been able to pull this off thus far. But as long as they are, those contract will eventually expire, and Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, just revealed when his deal is done.

Talking to Collider, the God of Thunder, or at least his hunky Australian actor counterpart, said that he has three films left on his current Marvel contract. He revealed that he’ll show up in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, and his upcoming solo joint, Thor: Ragnarok, at least as the plan stands now. I know that you’re very shocked that Thor will be in Thor 3.

Just because his deal runs out after those movies, doesn’t necessarily mean this is the last we’ll see of Hemsworth in the MCU. Eleven movies deep, this is something Marvel has already had to deal with. Robert Downey Jr. fulfilled his original contract, but he obviously signed on for more adventures as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Hemsworth also isn’t the only one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes nearing the end of his run, however, as Chris Evan’s, perhaps better known as Captain America, is also running on fumes.

Fans are obviously concerned about what this means for the future of our favorite comic book characters. Before we arrive at any big installment in the MCU, especially one like the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, where there are multiple heroes, there’s always a ripple of "is someone going to die" speculation. Thus far, we haven’t witnessed anyone too major kick the bucket, but as these deals run their course, it’s feeling more and more possible that we could start seeing superheroes die.

For his part, Thor is kind of easy to get out of the way if need be, you can just send him to Asgard and he’s relatively unavailable. Where were the rest of the Avengers was a big question audiences had during Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while Cap and Black Widow traipsed around battling Hydra and could have used a hand. They’re a little harder to get rid of. It’ll also be interesting to see if Marvel is willing to recast and, if they do, how fans will react to that.

If you’re fretting about the prospect of an MCU without Hemsworth, it’ll be okay, we’ve still got at least a few good years before we need to be really concerned. In reality, if what he says it true, we have four more movies with Thor, since most of us haven’t seenAge of Ultron yet. Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3, 2017, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 hits May 4, 2018, and Infinity War Part 2 follows on May 3, 2019, so Marvel has some time to figure out what to do with the character.
‘Amazing Spider-Man 3’ Would Have Included Venom, Brought Characters Back From the Dead

Before Marvel and Sony reached their highly-anticipated agreement to combine forces for a Spider-Man reboot, there was a lot of confusion about where the web-slinger was headed. We saw some of that in the e-mails following the Sony hack, accompanied by rumors about potential character returns and various spinoff plans. Now that director Marc Webb and the cast have moved on, they’ve begun to clarify what a third Amazing Spider-Man film would have been like.
While at Comic-Con to promote CBS’ Limitless series (for which he directed the pilot), Webb was asked about what we might have seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The director told MTV that we would have learned more about that guy in the hat, and we could have seen his version of Venom:
There’s the man in the hat, this obscure character called The Gentleman, who gets the Sinister Six together. That would’ve been fun to play out. Venom, obviously I would’ve been curious to see.
Drew Goddard was writing the Sinister Six spinoff for Sony, though it’s unclear if that’s still going to happen — or if the studio is tinkering with those plans now that they’re rebooting Spidey again with Marvel.
Webb’s explanation about his plans seems totally in keeping with the path he had laid out, but then things get weird in IGN’s interview with Denis Leary, who played Captain Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man. Stacy was killed in the first film, followed by the tragic demise of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in the sequel. As it turns out, they both might have returned for The Amazing Spider-Man 3:
Possibly in 3, there was this idea at one point that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died. So, there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3.
That sounds totally bonkers, but there were rumors circulating last year that Sony wanted to bring Stone back to reprise her role as Gwen in a third film — that makes sense at a studio level, given that the relationship between Andrew Garfield’s Peter and Stone’s Gwen was the only successful element of both films. On a narrative level? Not so much.
But in the Ultimate Comics, Peter did revive Gwen with the use of the Carnage symbiote, so you can see Sony’s line of thinking, particularly if Webb was planning on incorporating Venom.
None of this matters much now, of course, with the reboot underway, but if you were a fan of Webb’s films or just curious about what his third film might have been like, now you know.

Toy Story 4: Disney-Pixar Reveal New Details About Bo Peep and Woody's Love Story

Woody and Bo Peep are likely going to be our favorite new couple come Toy Story 4’s release. Based on what John Lasseter, the chief creative officer of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 14, there’s more to Bo Peep than her sheep.
As previously reported, Toy Story 4 is a love story, but now we’re learning more about the pink bonnet-clad little lady who has flirted with Woody since the franchise’s 1995 debut.
“I love Bo Peep,” Lasseter told the crowd at the expo. “And we never got to know her backstory. She wasn’t in Toy Story 3 at all, so it really set us up nicely for her to come back. It’s a very special story.” For Lasseter, in particular. The Disney exec revealed that Bo Peep’s story is based off of his own wife Nancy’s life.
“Bo Peep really reminds me of my wife Nancy in many ways,” he explained, without giving too much detail away. “And my wife Nancy has an incredible emotional story, before I met her, so it’s a very personal story — as is every film at Pixar. But that’s what this one is for me. It’s a very touching story that’s inspired by my love for my wife.”
Lasseter is set to direct the film while Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will write the script. “If you’ve seen the film that [Jones and McCormack have] done, Celeste and Jesse Forever, there’s a special quality to the love story and the writing and the cleverness they have,” he added of the duo.
The flick is special to Jones, too. "This is honestly a dream come true," she told Us of getting to work on the movie.
Bo Peep is voiced by Annie PottsTom Hanks, of course, voices Woody, while Tim Allen covers Buzz Lightyear. Toy Story 4 is due to hit theaters in June 2017.

The Huntsman is now The Huntsman: Winter's War.

Check out new The Huntsman Winter’s War posters featuring Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain and Emily Bunt

Four new character posters have arrived from Universal Pictures today that showcase the cast of the newly-titled The Huntsman Winter’s War. In the gallery viewer below, you can check out new characters posters featuring the returning Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth (as the Evil Queen Ravenna and The Huntsman Eric, respectively) as well as our first-ever looks at both Jessica Chastain’s Warrior Sara and Emily Blunt’s Ice Queen Freya. The trailer for the film should also be in theaters this Friday before screenings of Francis Lawrence’s franchise finale, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
The fantasy world of Snow White and the Huntsman expands with the new sequel, which reveals how the fates of The Huntsman Eric and Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined.
Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen—including Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Chastain)—only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.
When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. But once she discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from its golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force it’s ever seen. Now, their amassing army shall prove undefeatable…unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another.
Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, The Huntsman Winter’s War is produced by Joe Roth (MaleficentAlice in Wonderland). Look for it to hit theaters April 22, 2016.

5 Things You Need to Know Before You See 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials'

While many moviegoers are looking forward to the November release of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2," that's not the only movie franchise based on a series of dystopian young adult novels returning to theaters this fall. "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is the middle act of the Maze Runner trilogy. It continues the saga of Thomas and the other survivors of the brutal human experiment as they learn more about their plague-ravaged world and the civil war that threatens to further tear it apart.

While fans of the Maze Runner novels are already lining up for this sequel, those who only saw the first film may not know what to expect. To help you prepare for Thomas' latest adventure, here are the five key things you need to know before entering The Scorch.

1. Out of the Maze, into the Scariest (Sandiest) Place Ever
Don't expect Thomas and friends to be dropped into another isolated experiment with a giant maze in the middle. This time, our heroes will be venturing into the wider world.

Mind you, that world is every bit as dangerous as the original maze. Dubbed "The Scorch," this hellish desert is filled with deadly obstacles of both the man-made and natural variety. It also contains the ruins of the civilization that once was. If "Mad Max: Fury Road" left you craving for more post-apocalyptic desert wastelands, "The Scorch Trials" may be just what the doctor ordered.

2. There's a War Brewing
Thomas and friends finally encountered the faceless enemy controlling their every action in the climax of the first movie. Look for the sequel to delve much deeper into the mysterious organization that is WCKD, and reveal why they dumped a bunch of teenagers into a giant death trap.

As you can expect from a group whose name sounds like "Wicked" (and was actually spelled that way in the books), not everyone in the world of Maze Runner is thrilled with having a totalitarian regime calling the shots. This film will also introduce a resistance group rising up in opposition to the heavily armed and militaristic WCKD.

The question Thomas struggles with in this sequel is which side of the conflict he wants to be on. Not unlike a certain upcoming Marvel Studios movie, "Which side are you on?" is really the crux of the conflict.

3. You're Gonna Meet Some New Allies (and Enemies)
"Scorch Trials" will feature several returning characters from the first movie, including Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Minho (Ki Hong Lee) and the mysterious researcher Ava Paige (Patricia Clarkson).

Look for several major new players to enter the board, as well. The most significant of these will be Janson (Aidan Gillen), one of the researchers in charge of the facility supposed designed to protect teens like Thomas who are immune to the deadly Flare virus. Naturally, Janson is more than he seems, and his motivations might not be so benevolent. Would you expect anything less from the guy who plays Littlefinger on "Game of Thrones?"

Other new characters will include Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and Aris (Jacob Lofland) as new allies to Thomas' group, and Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito) as the leader of a dissident group known as the Cranks.

4. More Answers Are Coming
The first "Maze Runner" didn't seem to want viewers to know much about the true nature of this world, or the reason why dozens of innocent teens were dumped into a giant death trap and forced to build a Lord of the Flies-style civilization. As per usual in these types of mystery-driven stories, the characters with the answers always seemed to be the most tight-lipped.

Expect the sequel to ease up in that regard. The film won't just showcase the wider world outside of the maze, it'll also explore the sorry state of civilization after a disease called The Flare has decimated humanity. What is the source of this disease? Can it be stopped? Are Thomas and his friends better off cooperating with WCKD's experiments or seeking answers in the wastelands of the Scorch?

Also look for the sequel to delve deeper into Thomas' past as he wrestles with old memories finally resurfacing. Based on the trailer, it seems we'll get a closer glimpse into Thomas' childhood and the tragic events that left him orphaned and alone.

5. It's Really Different From the Book
Book purists might want to brace themselves: The adaptation will be a bit different from its source material – more so than the first movie was.

As Maze Runner creator James Dashner explained in a recent interview, some of these changes are "rippling effects" that occur as a result of deviations in the first movie. Perhaps the biggest change is that the telepathic communication between Thomas and Teresa won't be included in the film. Instead, other storytelling devices will be used to continue building their relationship.

Another major change is that a significant chunk of material from the third Maze Runner novel, "The Death Cure," will be shifted into this film. So fans can expect the climax of "The Scorch Trials" to play out much differently than the book.

The good news is that the series will buck the familiar trend of most YA novels-turned-movies by not breaking the final installment into two parts. "The Death Cure" is currently slated for release in February 2017
